From Riddiford Street there is foot access to the Church through Church Lane or the pathway to Nikau Street and then up Adelaide Road. Vehicular access is available from Adelaide Road.

The Suburb of Newtown:
is located to the south side of the city is generally residential in nature. There is an area of light industry and the area contains two prominent regional facilities.

These are the Wellington Zoo , to the south and Wellington Public Hospital to the north of the shopping centre. Other regional facilities include Newtown Park (an all weather athletic track, the Hockey Stadium in Mt Albert Park to the south of the suburb, the Indoor Sports Stadium and Rugby League Park on the western green belt of the suburb.

Newtown is a multicultural suburb that reflects the immigration policies of the country as a whole. There are high density residential areas as well as the traditional residential section.

Riddiford Street is the main thoroughfare to the Southern suburbs of Berhampore, Island Bay and Melrose and a major alternative route to Wellington’s Eastern Suburbs.

Being on the arterial route, the suburb is well serviced by public transport with regular bus services to and through the suburb. The community is well served by a shopping centre, restaurants, sporting codes and other activities.
